The 14th ACWO General Assembly and Conference
“Enhancing Women’s Effective Participation towards
an asean of Peace, Development and Prosperity”

Once every two years, ACWO General Assembly and Conference will be convened at the country holding the position of ACWO president. The 14th ACWO General Assembly this time entitled “Enhancing Women’s Effective Participation toward a Peaceful, Prosperous and Sustainable ASEAN” is held in Hanoi, Vietnam – a peaceful city being awarded by UNESCO during 19-20 Oct. 2010 at the 80th anniversary of the VWU. We are so proud to hold this significant event to acknowledge ASEAN women’s great roles and contribution to the prosperity of ASEAN.
Objectives
- Providing forum for women to share their insights on women-related issues.
- Proposing an Action Plan to empower women and promote their participation and contributions to the development in our respective countries and the region.
- Providing better insights about Vietnam, its land and people, its achievements recorded so far and the Government’s support for the promotion of women’s advancement and gender equality.
- Enhancing friendship and cooperation among ASEAN women, contributing to building a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable ASEAN region.

The Conference will have plenary sessions and workshops.
- ASEAN women’s roles in response to the financial crisis and climate change
- Promoting women’s Advancement and Gender Equality by ASEAN Governments
- Poverty Alleviation
- Women with Food Security and Safety
- Migrant Workers
- Prevention of Domestic Violence against Women and Children
Expected Outcomes
The 14th ACWO General Assembly expects to:
- Share information, experience and best practices in addressing women’s issues
- Further strengthen the mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation among ASEAN women and dialogue partners
- Work out a Resolution to empower women and promote their participation and contributions to the development in our respective countries and the region.
